Popmoney, explained

The Popmoney peer-to-peer (P2P) payment service lets you send money to friends, family or almost anyone. All you need is their name and their email address or mobile phone number to move money from your bank account to theirs. You and your contacts will never need to exchange account information.

Popmoney allows you to send and receive money using Mobile Banking and Online Banking. You can send money to anyone – they don’t need to have a Popmoney account.

When you send money to someone using Popmoney, they’ll receive an email or text that says you’d like to deposit money into their account. If they’ve used Popmoney before, they probably won’t need to do anything to receive your payment. If they’re new to Popmoney, they’ll be prompted to visit Popmoney.com and enter their bank account information there.

The money will then be in their account in as little as one to three business days. No need for cash, paper checks or I.O.U.s.

You can use Popmoney to:

  • Send money to your child at college
  • Send a gift to family and friends
  • Pay back friends for a fun outing
  • Pay your babysitter or lawn care service
  • Pay rent to your landlord or roommates

There is no fee to use Popmoney’s standard P2P delivery service through Bank of Canton’s Mobile Banking or Online Banking services, and recipients can pick up money at Popmoney.com for free. Fees may apply for rush delivery service, or payments made at Popmoney.com.
