CANTON, Mass. (May 18, 2026) – Bank of Canton recently donated $2,500 to the Randolph Foundation for Education to help fund new uniforms and instruments for the Randolph High School marching band, color guard and chorus. The groups were invited to represent Massachusetts in this year’s National Memorial Day Parade and Lincoln Memorial performance in Washington, D.C., on May 24 and 25.
“We are extremely proud of these students,” said Judy Conway, director of the Randolph Foundation for Education. “To be selected as an Official Representative of Massachusetts in the national parade is a very exclusive honor. Naturally, we want our students to look and feel confident, and our uniforms and instruments were in need of replacement and repair.
“Bank of Canton’s generous donation will help cover those expenses,” she continued. “It truly demonstrates a commitment to our schools and students for which the Randolph Foundation for Education is grateful.”
More than 80 Randolph High School students representing the marching band, color guard and chorus will travel to Washington over Memorial Day weekend, accompanied by members of the Randolph Music Boosters organization. Planned events include visiting the Smithsonian Museum, a walking tour of the Lincoln, Korean, Martin Luther King, Jr., Vietnam, and National World War II Memorials, and attending the National Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
The group will also lay a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these kids,” said Sean Donnelly, band director at Randolph High School. “They’ll get to perform on a national stage, honoring our country’s soldiers and fallen heroes in our nation’s capital. They’ll learn about civics and history in some of the most impressive buildings and museums our country has to offer. They’ve done an incredible job to get here, and we are all looking forward to this experience.”
In addition to Bank of Canton, several other local businesses, government representatives, individuals and families have donated to help cover equipment, travel and lodging expenses. Donations are still being accepted by local nonprofits such as the Randolph Foundation for Education and the Randolph Music Boosters, among others.
“We share the pride the entire Randolph community feels in these students and their achievements, and our bank welcomes the opportunity to help support their continued development and success,” said Michael Lindberg, president and CEO of Bank of Canton. “We also applaud the commitment of all of the parents, educators, boosters and mentors who’ve made this a reality. This will be a terrific, formative experience for these students.”
On Thursday, May 21, at 7:00pm along Highland Avenue next to the high school, the marching band will hold its final practice before departing for Washington. Members of the Randolph community are invited to attend and support the students.
