CANTON, Mass. (September 8, 2026) – Bank of Canton recently donated $100,000 to the Canton Public Library’s Next Chapter Capital Campaign, to support the third phase of the library’s ambitious renovation and modernization project.
The bank’s gift will help fund the buildout and furnishing of a large, tiered structure in the new Vicky Chiasson Memorial Young Adult Room. Named the Bank of Canton Learning Pavilion, the structure will serve as a collaborative activity and gathering space for the library’s teen- and tween-age patrons, with a group meeting room and podcast studio on its ground level.
“On behalf of the library trustees and staff, I would like to thank Bank of Canton for its very generous support and its commitment to enhancing the library experience of the town’s youth,” said Peg Mead, chair of the library’s board of trustees. “The needs, expectations and behaviors of our patrons have significantly changed over time, and this substantial gift from the bank will help us adapt our space and programming to remain a valuable, enriching institution for Canton residents of all ages for many years to come.”
The new young adult room will replace the library’s current reference room. In addition to the learning pavilion, the renovated space will also feature study pods, a jumbo video screen, and sound-absorbing panels, walls, and carpeting to keep sound from traveling to other areas of the library.
“Bank of Canton supports lifelong learning in our communities,” said Michael Lindberg, president and CEO of Bank of Canton, “and nurturing the curiosity and inquisitiveness of our students and young adults is vitally important to that. The Canton Public Library’s leadership, trustees and partners have designed an innovative, forward-looking space that will foster creativity and collaboration, and the bank is very pleased to support their vision.”
The renovations, which also include repairs to water-damaged areas, the addition of more quiet study rooms and flexible meeting spaces, and a redesigned circulation desk area, are scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2027.
