CANTON, Mass. (January 9, 2019) – Maria Pina of Brockton has joined Bank of Canton’s 259 Turnpike Street branch in Canton as assistant branch manager. Fluent in both English and Cape Verdian Creole, Ms. Pina brings 15 years’ banking experience and expertise to her new role.

“I’m a community banker,” said Ms. Pina, “and Bank of Canton is a wonderful match for my community values. I wanted to continue my career with a local mutual bank, close to where I live and where I am connected. I am eager to work with [branch manager] Juan Barrera and the terrific team he’s put together to develop new relationships and business opportunities, and contribute to Bank of Canton’s growth and success.”

Prior to her new role at Bank of Canton, Ms. Pina was the vice president of retail banking at Meetinghouse Bank of Dorchester, where she managed all retail functions of the bank until it was acquired by East Boston Savings Bank in late 2017. Ms. Pina has also held roles with Randolph Savings Bank and Boston Federal Savings Bank dating back to 2003.

“I’m very excited about Maria joining the team at 259 Turnpike Street,” said Anthony F. Caruso, senior vice president of retail banking. “She brings extensive operational and procedural experience to her position, and possesses strong business development skills that complement those of her fellow employees. She has a lot of talent and a lot of enthusiasm for this opportunity, and she’s already making a positive impact.”

In addition to her role at the bank, Ms. Pina is the vice president and a founding member of the All Dorchester Women’s Professional Network. She earned her Associate in Arts degree from Roxbury Community College in Visual Arts.
