CANTON, Mass. (January 6, 2020) – Bank of Canton’s 67 North Main Street branch in Randolph distributed more than 100 winter clothing accessories to the Friendly Food Pantry this week, following the bank’s annual Mitten Tree collection drive.
A total of 430 handmade and newly purchased hats, mittens, gloves and scarves were collected by Bank of Canton’s four branches and corporate headquarters. The items were donated to the Friendly Food Pantry of Randolph, Interfaith Social Services of Quincy and Cradles to Crayons of Brighton.
The donations came from the bank’s customers, employees and others. The knitting clubs of the Canton Council on Aging and two Milton assisted living residences, Fuller Village and Winter Valley, contributed significantly to the drive. The bank provided the knitting clubs with free yarn, and the clubs responded by donating several bags of handmade items.
The audience of the bank’s holiday movie matinee event, held on December 7th at Bank of Canton’s 250-seat corporate auditorium, contributed more than 100 items as well.

The drive was part of Bank of Canton’s holiday promotion, which also included the holiday movie matinee and a mitten-themed craft contest that awarded $1,000 in prizes to young local artists.
