Bank of Canton Hosts Bio-Engineering Symposium
August 2006- Bank of Canton hosted an intensive, three day Bio-Engineering Symposium June 26-28 at its corporate headquarters, located at 490 Turnpike Street in Canton, Mass. The event, presented by the Schools to Careers Partnership in Canton, offered students who are passionate about math and science, the chance to work hand-in-hand with prestigious Bio-Engineering veterans.
A selective group of 22 high schools students from seven regional schools received full scholarships to attend the program. Participating schools included: Avon High School; Blue Hills Regional Technical School; Canton High School; Dedham High School; Milton High School, Norwood High School and Randolph High School. Students learned from some of the area's most prestigious industry experts from: the Environmental Department of Northeastern University; IDEC of Cambridge; Stone & Webster/Shaw Environmental of Stoughton and Acambis, Inc. of Canton.
"Our outstanding business partners are committed to sharing their passion with students who are interested in pursuing careers in the bio-tech and engineering field," said Kathleen Touafek, Director of the Schools-to-Careers Partnership. "Experiencing this first-hand, outside of the classroom, makes all the difference."
