Bank of Canton CEO, James D. Egan is Co-Chair of Fourth Annual Dinner to Benefit Homeless Veterans Shelter

August 2006- James D. Egan, of Braintree, is serving as a co-chair of the fourth annual "Leave No One Behind" fundraising dinner to benefit the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, on Wednesday, November 8, at the Boston Seaport Hotel.

Ambassador L. Paul Bremer, III, former Presidential Envoy to Iraq, will be the keynote speaker for the dinner. In addition, Major Select Joseph Ewers will share his experiences from his tour of duty in Iraq. For the second consecutive year, New England Cable News Anchor Chet Curtis will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the dinner, which supports the operating reserve and endowment for the Shelter.

Egan has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Canton since 1987. He previously served as Vice President, Senior Lending Officer at Quincy Cooperative Bank, as Senior Vice President - Operations at Coolidge Bank and Trust in Boston and as Senior Manager - Consulting at KPMG in Boston. He began his banking career in 1970, as an Accounting Officer with Marine Midland Bank in New York City.

Egan graduated from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York, with a BBA degree in Accounting. A Certified Public Accountant, he is a member of the American Institution of CPAs and the Massachusetts Society of CPAs. Egan serves as a Director of the Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts, Infinex Financial Group and the Canton Association of Industries.

The New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans is a substance-free, non-profit organization that empowers veterans in need with the tools to achieve independent living. Headquartered in downtown Boston, the Shelter has served over 13,000 homeless veterans since its inception in 1989. The Shelter's service philosophy is based on themes of sobriety, structure, and employment, with the proposed outcomes focused on obtaining employment and accessing permanent housing.
