Bank of Canton Names Joseph Canute Regional Lending Manager, Serving Lower South Shore & Cape Cod

July 2006- James D. Egan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Canton, is pleased to announce that Joseph (Jay) Canute was hired as Regional Lending Manager for Bank of Canton's newest office, located at 145 Barnstable Road in Hyannis, Mass. In his new role, Canute is responsible for servicing residential customers throughout Cape Cod and the surrounding South Shore towns, including, but not limited to Plymouth, Carver and Wareham, Mass. His duties include originating mortgages, assisting customers in their home buying and refinancing decisions and managing the flow of the loan process for customers, from application to closing.

"I am very impressed with Bank of Canton's approach to business and customer service," Canute said. "It is loyal to the communities it serves and maintains a 'hometown feel' for its customers. I also found that it provides its employees with the flexibility they need to properly serve their customers."

Canute has strong roots in the Cape Cod community. Before joining Bank of Canton, he held the position of Sales and Finance Manager at Atlantic Subaru in Bourne for more than three years. Prior to this, he held the same title at Showcase Isuzu, also in Bourne. He is also currently involved in many regional events, including: the Junior Basketball Association of Wareham; the Jason Andrade Memorial Summer League for Kids; Wareham Tiger Pop Warner Football; acting as Golf Tournament Director for Relay for Life; and involvement in the Cape Cod Dining Club and the Traveling Vineyard Wine Club. Canute is committed to balancing his professional life with his personal life. He also stays close to his Cape Verdean heritage through active involvement in cultural events and community activities.

"Jay's financial background makes him equipped to provide quality, secure and accurate financial information regarding home ownership," Egan said. "His concern regarding what is best for his customers and the community creates a mutually beneficial relationship that positions us all for success."

Canute lives in Falmouth with his wife, Kimberly, and their two sons, Christian, who is seven-years-old; Cameron, two-years-old; and a newborn on its way in the fall. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and going to the beach.
