Bank of Canton Participates in Teach Children to Save Program
May 2008- On Wednesday April 30, 2008 Bank of Canton celebrated National Teach Children to Save Day with John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Canton, MA. Since January, Assistant Branch Managers Filomena Correia and Mary Czyras have been educating Canton youths on the importance of proper money management in preparation for National Teach Children to Save Day.
National Teach Children to Save is a program established by the American Bankers Association in 1997 to introduce and educate our youth about proper ways to save. Since the program began more than 45,000 banks have taught money management skills to nearly 2.3 million young people.
Twice a month Correia and Czyras visit the John F. Kennedy Elementary School to teach fourth and fifth grade students the importance of basic money management. Each lesson introduces students to a new topic, from budgeting to investments to lines of credit.
"Working with our youth to help them understand proper money management and ways to save is very important," said Correia. "National Teach Children to Save Day gives the students a chance to celebrate all the effort and hard work they have put in to the classes since January."
